Los Angeles

I made it. Got into the land of the la la this afternoon at about 3:30. Hung out with my new landlady Paula for a few hours waiting for the former tenant to come by and pick up the rest of his shit. He left me a mattress which I'll sleep on tonight and then put out on the curb with a "free" sign tomorrow after the movers come bring my real bed.

Paula rocks. She's a recover(ing/ed) alcoholic who loves plants and animals and don't take no shit from nobody. I'm guessing she's in her late 60s with this crazy spikey haircut and one of her dogs has a mohawk. Word.

So I'd post lots of pictures of my exciting adventure over here but...

a) I left my camera in my backpack, which I then left in my parents car which they took to Houston right before I left Austin to come out here. So it, along with most of the other things I use/need on a daily basis is in Houston. With my backpack and camera is my luggage, which had the clothes that were intended to last me until the movers show up. Turns out that's tomorrow, so no big deal there. But no camera, no phone charger, no sunglasses, no novel I've been reading, etc.

b) There was nothing exciting about my trip over here. It was many hours of driving by myself - listening to NPR when I could catch it, talk radio when I couldn't, and my CDs when neither were available or I just felt like jammin' some tunes. Bonus - fell back in love with Observing Systems by the Tied and Tickled Trio. In the realm of jazz/electronic crossover albums, this is one of my all-time favorites, perhaps even edging out Cinematic Orchestra's Everyday.

c) I'm tired and I can barely finish typing this post. My last few weeks have been a whirlwind.

d) Goodnight.
