Persecuted Christians

Just for the record, this is what it looks like when a government persecutes people for being Christian.

This kind of thing doesn't happen in the United States, and when anything resembling it does happen it's considered a horrible crime. Why? Because the same Amendment that protects me from having someone else's faith crammed down my throat protects those who practice their religion peacefully from being discriminated against on the basis of doing so.

Those who try to dillute that Amendment to press their faith on others do themselves a disservice. When that protection is gutted, and another group gains power, they may find themselves trying to use the shield they broke. That is why the separation of church and state is so important...for people of all faiths and those of no faith.

And I guess my break from political blogging is over, but I'm still going to try to do some less political stuff more often than before this summer. Mix it up a little more and all that.
