No Shit, Sherlock

I really hope there's nobody who hadn't figured this out by now.

Transparent government is necessary for true liberty. The good thing about government (as opposed to multinational corporations) is that we have a say in how it is run. Right now, the best way to express your views on how this country is run is to vote on Nov. 2. If you think government should be run like a corporation (i.e., not really accountable to anyone or anything) then vote Republican. You'll even get the extra bonus of living in a creeping theocracy. Otherwise, I would vote Democrat...

Gooooooooooooooooooool!

Congrats to the US Women's Soccer Team on their gold medal.

I haven't been paying much attention at all to the glorified infomercial that is the modern Olympic Games (tm), but I always follow the futbol and the women deserve some praise.

For the first time in a major competition, the US Women were undisputed underdogs (to the Germans). They won with effective play and can now send the veteran women off with a gold medal...veterans who made women's soccer on the international stage what it is today...in existence.

Big ups to Hamm and the rest...

The Swift Feet of Justice

Ah, the pitter patter of the swift feet of justice as the great lady scurries to set things right in Gold Medal time!

Pinochet has lost his immunity.

It looks like the man will meet his well-deserved fate. Execution by old age.

And you gotta love the language the article uses...my favorite part?
The ruling came in a lawsuit brought on behalf of victims of "Operation Condor," a repression plan implemented by the military dictatorships that ruled South American nation in the 1970s and '80s. Pinochet took power in a coup in 1973 in which the elected president, leftist Salvador Allende, was assassinated.
Notice that passive voice. "was assassinated," as if the assassination just fell out of the sky and landed on his head.

So Tired of Swift Vets

Not even going to link to anything. I'm just tired of hearing about it.

Oh, and I recant my defense of John O'Neill, who it turns out is a liar who is willing to cowrite a book, full of lies, with a noted bigot. That guy can go fuck himself despite our having mutual friends...

Funny how the media spotlight can drag out some skeletons. Makes me hope it never turns on me.

Okaaay....

Not sure how that order happened. Go Blogger!

I really gotta change this thing over to a better system (though Blogger is getting better and better, which is more than I can say for Google).

So instead of reading me whine about how busy I am, keep yourself busy with this...incredible how Cheney can publically try to placate both his gay daughter and the bigots who want to change our constitution. Regardless of what the Post says, Cheney's words merely state that he thinks there should be "freedom" for gay couples (whatever that means...Bush has rendered that word meaningless through his Orwellian usage) and that it should be a decision for the states, but that nameless "judges" have somehow changed the law (i.e., actually done their job and interpreted constitutions) without a mandate from the people. What the post neglects to mention is that the obvious next step in that line of logic, the means of preventing these activist judges from letting homos take over our country, is to amend the constitution. So he, like his boss/puppet, is simply straddling fences, trying to keep his base behind him while he placates to his own daughter and those who woudl support her before him.

On that Note...

of tiredness, I apologize for my lack of productivity on the blog. Things are hectic with school winding up, but I promise as soon as I start spending time in class (aka surfing the net and bitching about it here) I will be back in action...

Tired

I'm tired.
